§ 1. Name and Affiliation:
The name of the association is Aarhus Blótlaug and it is affiliated with Forn Siðr – The Asa and Vana Community in Denmark.
§ 2. Purpose
The purpose of the association is:
1.To serve as a local point of contact for followers of the ancient customs.
2.To uphold the worship of the ancient Norse gods and to conduct blóts and other rituals.
3.To disseminate knowledge and understanding of our ancient Norse cultural heritage, through Eddic poems and other source material as well as through newer forms of expression.
4.To hold a minimum of 4 annual blóts.
5.To work purposefully towards the acquisition of / right of use to land for the establishment of, among other things, a godshouse (hov).
§ 3. Basis of Belief
Our basis of belief is Ásatrú, i.e. faith in the Aesir, Vanir, Alfs, Wights/nature spirits, Fylgjur/Vardyr, Ancestors and Sun and Moon, as well as certain Jötnar, collectively called the Powers (Regin). The invocation of these powers can take place through blót, seiðr, galdr and rune magic. We recognize the poems of the Poetic Edda as sacred texts. Beyond this, the association has no authority in dogmatic matters.
§ 4. Political and Missionary Stance
Aarhus Blótlaug is non-political and non-missionary.
§ 5. On Rites and Customs
1.Racist attitudes and activities, violent behavior, gender discrimination, desecration of sacred sites (regardless of religion), damage to nature and animal cruelty are not compatible with membership in Aarhus Blótlaug.
2.Blood sacrifice of common livestock is permitted if the slaughter takes place in dignified forms and in accordance with Danish veterinary legislation.
3.Any member of the association can lead the blót.
§ 6. Membership
1.Membership of the association is individual. Anyone who wishes to can become a member, provided they are willing to comply with the association’s statutes and do not have serious disagreements with already enrolled members of the association.
The association cannot require that a member of Aarhus Blótlaug must also be a member of Forn Siðr – The Asa and Vana Community in Denmark.
Membership ceases when one resigns from the association in writing or fails to pay dues.
3.In case of violations of the association’s statutes, Nazi/racist activity and misuse of the association’s name and logo, Aarhus Blótlaug can suspend a membership if 1/2 of the members agree to this. Final expulsion of a member can only take place at an ordinary Thing, with a 2/3 majority of those present.
§ 7. The Thing
The Thing is the association’s highest decision-making authority.
The ordinary Thing is held every year before the spring equinox.
The working group determines the exact time and place and makes the necessary practical preparations.
All members of the association have voting rights and each member has 1 vote.
The Thing is quorate regardless of the number of attendees and makes its decisions by simple majority vote, however, a 2/3 majority is required for amendments to the statutes and expulsions, and § 10 applies to the dissolution of the association.
In case of a tie vote, a proposal is rejected.
Notice of the ordinary Thing shall be given no later than one month before it is held.
Proposals for the agenda must be received by the working group no later than 2 weeks before the Thing.
The working group must inform the members thereof no later than 1 week prior.
An extraordinary Thing may be convened by the working group or 1/3 of the association’s members with at least 14 days’ and no more than 6 weeks’ notice.
§ 8. The Working Group
The association is represented by a working group, which is elected at the annual Thing and must include at least a secretary and a treasurer.
It is the task of the Working Group to manage the association’s operations and to be responsible for contact with interested parties and new members, as well as internal communication in the association (telephone chains, etc.).
The Working Group may be expanded at the Thing as needed with persons elected for specific tasks.
The Working Group must not disclose membership lists or information that could identify individual members to outsiders, unless the members agree to this.
§ 9. Finances
The membership fee is determined at the annual Thing.
The financial year is January 1 to December 31.
§ 10. Dissolution
For a decision to dissolve the association, at least 4/5 of the votes cast are required at each of two consecutive Things, the latter of which must be convened expressly for this purpose.
In the event of dissolution, the dissolving Thing shall decide whether Aarhus Blótlaug’s funds and objects shall be donated to Forn Siðr, the Asa and Vana Community in Denmark, or to the National Museum’s collection of antiquities.
